What is the Toolkit?
- The CS2day Toolkit is a comprehensive set of educational resources designed to assist healthcare professionals in treating tobacco dependence in their patients.
- The toolkit is based on the US Public Health Service Clinical Practice Guideline: Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence 2008 Update. Tools that are part of this Toolkit were reviewed by the University of Wisconsin Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention to ensure consistent quality of the content.
- The Toolkit resources may be utilized by educational program planners and speakers/instructors to effectively communicate to learners (physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals) the contents and core curriculum on treating tobacco dependence, and to facilitate translation of the evidence-based recommendations into practice.
All clinical encounters are opportunities to intervene with patients who use tobacco. The CS2day tools are easy to use and incorporate into the clinical work flow: they are available in various formats, adaptable to varying time constraints, and can be tailored to specific target audiences. Consider the tools as building blocks for constructing continuing medical education activities that will foster clinician success in addressing this important health issue and reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with tobacco use and dependence.
The CS2day Toolkit components can be used in multiple settings to focus on specific groups of learners. In reviewing sections of the Toolkit, you will identify materials most relevant to your interests and objectives.
